Fire demands respect. It is hard to control, but when used with caution, it warms our homes, cooks our food, and lights our way. Those who celebrate Fire, glow with a passion within their souls. They possess the courage to allow their creativity to shine. They dance and twirl with ideas and projects, adding motion to life.

However, Fire warns us not to use too much energy all at once, or we will burn out quickly. It also reminds us that we must continually add fuel to our ideas and projects, or they will soon die.

Fire’s Messages about Ideas, Projects, and Relationships

When the Element Fire tries to get your attention, it may be saying that you have ideas, projects, or relationships that need tending. You may need to find more resources or tap the right people to get your project off the ground.

On the other hand, Fire may be telling you that you have too many people involved or too many ideas going at once. You may need to step back and let the fires burn down and go more slowly. You may need to temper your life with some of the calming aspects of Water. (For more on the Element of Water, click here.)

There is a duality to Fire; it can both create and destroy.

Fire, like the Elements Water and Air, has two sides to its capabilities. Fire can bring warmth, cook a meal, transform, and light our way. Nonetheless, we know that Fire can also be destructive. Its damaging forces are well known; only a tiny spark can set off a forest fire, burning through thousands of acres of trees uprooting all in its path.

Fire’s duality of both consumption and creation serves as a lesson that when we create something, we must give of our time and effort. The birth of a new idea, project, or relationship requires that we expend our energy to make the thing possible.

The Constant Characteristic of Fire

The one characteristic of Fire is that it only exists in motion. Remember that when you tap into the energy of Fire, you had better be ready to move with the actions it provides. However, you must be careful to tend a fire, or you will use all of your reserves too quickly and not have enough energy to see you through to the end.
