Are you may receiving subtle signals from the Universe to pay attention to the lessons Water can teach you? You may suddenly be seeing seashells everywhere. Images of oceans or lakes keep popping up on your computer. You may have been without your umbrella and gotten caught in a sudden downpour. If you are noticing symbols of Water all around you, it could be that the element Water is calling to you.

Water sustains life. As human beings, we are mainly made up of water and cannot live without this life-giving force. As one of the Four Elements, Water has many lessons to impart about how to approach life while being aware of the subtleties around us.

Human beings are made up of approximately 65% water, so it is no wonder that the element Water draws us to it. We become mesmerized by the reflection of the Moon, a babbling brook, or the ocean’s waves.  It is symbolic of receptiveness to the gifts of the Universe, of the fertility of life, and the miraculous transformations we make throughout our lives.

Water’s Form and Meaning

Are the words you chose ones of calm and reflective water or that of moving water? Each state speaks to a different aspect of Water to which you may need to pay attention.

Calm and Reflective

If you are in a constant state of movement, never taking time to pause and reflect on life, the Water may be telling you that it is time to do so. Water reminds us to dive deep into our subconscious to understand our feelings and emotions and why we are reacting to certain influences in our lives the way we are.

Motion and Movement

If you see signs of Water which remind you of action, motion, and movement, Water may be telling you that it is time to take action on things you have been contemplating but not put into motion. Remember that water takes the path of least resistance. If you have been facing an obstacle (such as a boss or that donut) and not moving forward, it may be that it is time to find another way around the barrier to continue on the path to your goal.

Water Inspires Community

Water is life. On planet Earth, we know that human beings cannot thrive without access to clean water. As humans evolved, they created societies around water sources. Could Water be telling you to pay attention to the relationships within your community or that you need to work to build stronger ones? Water signs may be telling you that you need to bring people together for support or to solve a problem.

Also, Remember

Too much water, and you drown. Not enough water and you die of thirst. Water teaches us about the importance of balance in our lives.

Three Lessons from an Encounter with Water

There are three major lessons to take away from an encounter with the Water element in your life.

Lesson One: Embrace Change!

We know that we cannot stop the inevitable changes in time, so stop fighting it and go with the flow, which leads to the next lesson.

Lesson Two: Be Flexible!

Remind yourself when obstacles are in your way that there are other paths to what it is you seek. Finding an obstacle in your path may be the Universe’s way of telling you that this is not the way to what you seek. Start thinking like Water. What is another way to get where I am going on this journey I am on?

Lesson Three: Dive Deeper!

What is it that you are not seeing? You may need to take time to contemplate on your own, or another’s motivation behind actions. Maybe you need to look deeper into the path you are on and see what obstacles are in your way of success.
